What makes Martial Arts Journals different from regular training notebooks?

Our journals have been thoughtfully designed by martial artists and include guided prompts that help you reflect on every training session. You’ll also find space for goal setting and reflections. From day one, your journal becomes a practical tool for growth and consistency.

What other Martial Arts Journals are being created?

Available to buy now are The Jiu Jitsu Journal and The MMA Journal. The Boxing Journal, The Judo Journal, The Karate Journal and The Martial Arts Journal are all currently in different stages of development. We have plans to launch more journals depending on demand. You can join our mailing list to be the first to know when new editions launch.

How is the journal structured inside?

Each journal has a slightly different structure based on how training sessions are carried out (for example, The MMA Journal and The Boxing Journal have sections for sparring). Generally though, every journal contains pages to set goals, record training sessions and reflect on key takeaways, and reflect on lessons learned. You’ll find easy and engaging prompts to follow, all designed to keep your training intentional and consistent.

How should I use the journal to get the most out of it?

There's no right or wrong way to use your journal. Some people like to jot down notes in a bullet point style, others prefer a detailed, free-form style of writing. We recommend using your journal after each training session (or as often as you can) to jot down key details. Reflection pages are interspersed throughout the journal, encouraging you at pre-determined intervals to look back on your progress and adjust your goals going forwards.

Do I need to fill it in after every session?

That’s up to you. Some people use it after every class, others once or twice a week. The more consistently you journal, especially soon after training, the more awareness and focus you’ll bring to future sessions.

What if I’m new to marital arts, will this still be helpful?

Definitely. The journal is designed for all levels. Beginners often find it especially useful for tracking what they’re learning, spotting patterns and staying motivated through the early stages of training.

How does journalling help with progress and mindset?

Journalling is known to be a useful tool in many areas of life. In a martial arts context, writing about your training helps you process what you’ve learned. It’s like doing the session twice. This helps you to unpick things which happen quickly in the moment, allowing you to take lessons from these moments that may have otherwise been missed. Faster learning means faster improvement. Journalling in martial arts also builds self-awareness, increases your sense of presence (both on and off the mats) and makes it easier to see how far you’ve come over time.

What size are the journals?

Our journals are designed to be practical for daily training. Each A5 journal measures 145 x 215 mm, making it compact enough to take to the gym while providing ample space for notes and reflection.

What is the paper quality like?

We use 100gsm high-quality paper that’s smooth, durable and resistant to bleed-through, so you can write with pens or pencils comfortably. The journals are built to withstand regular use over months of training.

Are the journals only available in English?

Yes, our journals are currently available in English only. We’re exploring additional language options for future releases.

Can I see a preview of the layout before buying?

Yes, sample pages are available on the product page so you can see the layout and features before ordering.

Are digital versions available or coming soon?

Not yet, but digital formats are planned for the future for those who prefer to record training notes on a device.

Are these journals suitable for children?

Yes, children can absolutely use them and the feedback we've had from parents so far has been fantastic. We also have future plans to release child-specific journals designed to be more interactive and engaging for younger martial artists.
